The SEO’s guide to GSC (Google Search Console)

Google Search Console is a useful tool to boost the search engine optimization of your website, but before we go to how to use this tool for SEO, let’s find out what exactly SEO and Google Search Console are.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a process to boost your website’s appearance in search results. There are 3 types of search engine optimization: on-page SEO (optimizing the website’s pages by HTML or enhancing content), off-page SEO (promoting the website’s content through various channels and building external links), and technical SEO (such as boosting the performance of the site or mobile-friendly).

Google Search Console is used by Search engine optimization professionals to see how search engines, such as Google, view their websites since the performance of websites in search results can be tracked by GSC. This can help you resolve technical problems, enhance the content, and make informed decisions.

Using Google Search Console can give you important information about your website. For instance, you can be aware of the visibility or technical changes of your site. It can also help you submit a sitemap and eliminate URLs from the index. Ultimately, these valuable reports help to refine your strategy.

Here is how to use Google Search Console:

  • The first thing to do is to set up the Google Search Console. Create a Google account and add your website to Google Search Console (at this level you should choose either a domain or URL prefix property). After that, you should verify ownership. You can do this through methods such as Google Analytics, HTML file upload, and DNS records.

  • The second level is submitting the sitemap’s URL in Google Search Console.

  • Now you should check the ‘’performance’’ report to monitor impressions, clicks, CTR, or average position.

  • Search for queries and analyze which ones lead to the website’s traffic and determine opportunities for optimization.

  • You can use a ‘’coverage’’ report to determine and fix indexing issues. In addition, inspect URLs to make sure they’re indexed accurately.

  • To optimize the user experience for your website, you should monitor and enhance the interactivity, the loading speed of the site, and visual stability. Another element to optimize user experience is mobile-friendliness. Therefore, it’s important to check the mobile Usability report.

  • Now you should boost your website’s content. Relevant keywords can be found using Google Search to optimize your content. In addition, you should replace old content with updated content to boost your website’s rankings.

  • Tracking your backlinks is the next thing to do. By the use of the Disavow tool, you can also manage the website’s harmful backlinks.

  • The last level is security issues and manual actions. By using Google Search Console, you can check and resolve security problems and make sure no manual actions took place against your website.

Therefore, using Google Search Console and following the steps above can help SEO professionals a lot to get valuable information about their site, boost their SEO, and finally improve the performance of their website.
